In 2015, I was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer – Polycythaemia Vera. It is a Myeloproliferative Neoplasm and only affects about 2 in 100,000 people. Whilst it is not immediately life-threatening, it will impact on the quality of my life and overall life expectancy.
In life, we can either be a victim of our fate, or we can do something about it. As such, I have chosen to do as much as I can to raise awareness of the disease, and to raise funds to assist with advocating on behalf of MPN patients, educating health professionals and the public, and contributing to research to help find a cure and better treatments.
I, along with a group of suffers (the MPN Alliance Australia) have set up a dedicated MPN fund within the Leukaemia Foundation. All funds raised using this link will go to directly assist MPN Patients.
If you have ever stayed at Sweetwater, and would like to assist, I ask that you read about the disease at www.mpnallianceaustralia.org.au
